Thought for the Week

I have learned this: it is not what one does that is wrong but what one becomes as a consequence of it.  -Oscar Wilde

When you notice yourself behaving badly, ask yourself, “What made me think that was OK?”  The answer usually comes up as “they deserve it,” “I deserve it,” or “I do not deserve better.”  Those answers are the wounds created and reinforced by our past behaviors and choices.  When we allow ourselves to behave badly, the deeper consequence is how we shape ourselves and our future behaviors.

If I think beyond the immediate situation, are my choices shaping me into the person I want to be?  If not, what choices would the person I want to be make?
