“I’d like to make a motion that we face reality.” –Bob Newhart
Reality is not always comfortable and there are many ways to avoid it: acknowledging only some traits of others (those we like or those we do not) as opposed to the whole person, focusing only on the immediate numbers as opposed to the bigger picture of your finances (or vice versa), or believing that your current situation (comfortable or uncomfortable) will continue indefinitely. However, avoiding reality does not allow us to change our situation. When we face reality, even though it may be uncomfortable, we open up the possibility of real change in our life.
In what ways am I avoiding or denying reality? What changes are possible to me if I face (accept and acknowledge) reality?
