The basics of Harry Potter: prepare for the challenge, surround yourself with the support of others, positive self-talk, focus on what is at stake, and take appropriate action. –Patrick Carnes
We can apply wisdom we read in stories to life, especially life in recovery. The Harry Potter series has some sage wisdom to offer when facing a great challenge. Be prepared. Have a support community and use it. Hold success in your mind, after all we tend to create what we think. Be aware of the consequences of falling short and use this as motivation. Do not just hope; take action to increase your chances of success. This is good advice for battling a dark wizard, maintaining sobriety, or addressing any challenge in your life.
Am I taking steps to succeed? What must I do differently to live up to my current challenge?
