“Live every day as if it is your last but learn to live as if you will live forever.” –Ghandi

Ghandi understood the balance of life.  Live it to its fullest but do so in moderation.  If we are afraid to take chances, we short change ourselves, miss out on the opportunities waiting for us, and deny others all that we could offer – either through direct contact or through our role modeling.  However, not being aware of or caring about the possible consequences of our choices to ourselves or others is irresponsible and, at times, cruel.  Living life in such a way that we live it to its fullest and are not ashamed to show our face in public the next day is finding balance.  In recovery, this is known as living in moderation.

Am I getting as much as I can from life but creating a mine field for myself or others to navigate in the future?  Am I keeping a completely clean slate but missing or avoiding the actual experience of “living” life?  What would balance and moderation look like?
