Sweet Madness, Glorious Sadness

In this sweet madness
Oh, this glorious sadness
That brings me to my knees
-Sarah McLachlan

Addiction creates a struggle in our consciousness.  Part of us craves our addiction and the idea of acting out.  Another part of us recognizes how painful and insane our addiction is and wants to avoid these addictive patterns.  Unchecked, the struggle brings us to our knees.  With the support and guidance of others and the awareness of the slow yet consistent neurological change that takes place with consistent sobriety and recovery, we find our feet again and walk a path to sanity.

When have I given in to the sweet madness and glorious sadness of my addiction? What has changed when I allowed others to help me back onto my feet?  What gifts await me if I walk with others into consistent sobriety and recovery?
