Do what you can, with what you have, where you are.

“Do what you can, with what you have, where you are.” –Theordore Roosevelt

It would be wonderful if the triggers we experienced were minimal and we consistently had strong resolve as well as significant peer support for sobriety.  However, reality is not so kind.  At times, when we are struggling with our program, strong addictive urges will hit us and our support community will either be difficulty to reach or not have the “right” words.  The choices we make in these moments either build or erode the foundation of our recovery.  Do I give up or do I do my best, with what I have, right now.

When have I felt weak in my recovery?  Have I given in?  What gifts await me if I start to do my best, with what I have, right now?
