Thought for the Week

I don’t want to succeed in business and fail in life.

Success comes in many forms.  That is something we sometimes forget.  Success can be defined as “I won the game” or as “I lost the game while playing honorably even when I was tempted to act dishonorably.”  Success can be defined as “I have a high paying job and my services are desired” or as “I make a minimal salary and my job is rewarding and satisfies my soul.”  How we define success is a reflection of our values.  As we work on recovery, what we value often changes.  It’s important to recognize these changes in values and shift our definition of success accordingly.

When have I been successful in endeavors but failed in life?  How did this connect to my values at the time?  What gifts await me as I understand my values in recovery and adjust my sense of success accordingly?
