Core beliefs defend against the beauty.

Two core beliefs that addicts typically hold are “I am a bad, unworthy person.” and “No one would love me if they really knew who I was.”  These core beliefs defend us against beauty.  The beauty of self-acceptance.  The beauty of love and acceptance from others.  The beauty of change and growth.  The beauty of life in recovery.  It is time to be less well defended.

How have my core beliefs “defended” me?  What beauty have I missed?  What gifts await me if I let go of my core beliefs and open myself to beauty?
