“When you’re in a long tunnel and it’s dark, you shouldn’t put your foot on the brakes. You should keep your foot on the gas until you see the light at the end.” –Diane Shrock
There are many times in recovery when we feel dark and hopeless. We can be tempted to give up and go back to our old patterns and behaviors. However, just because it feels dark does not mean we are not making progress. When it is dark, it is time to keep going forward and find the light that is waiting for us down the road of recovery.
When have I felt overwhelmed and given up? What options did I ignore because I was afraid? What gifts might I find as I choose to continue my recovery work even when it feels dark?
