“When you talk, you are only repeating what you already know.  But, if you listen, you may learn something new.” –Dalai Lama

Through our sobriety and recovery work we learn many things, and sharing this knowledge with others is appropriate.  But if all we do is spout our wisdom, we are missing out.  Others have wisdom as well.  They have walked paths different than ours.  They have learned to use tools we have not.  They have discovered their own treasures.  When we stop spouting and start listening, there is much we can learn.  No one knows so much that they cannot benefit by learning something new.

When have I focused on sharing my wisdom and insight?  Have I put equal energy into listening?  What gifts await me as I listen and learn from others?
