Scars

“Scars remind us of where we’ve been.  They don’t have to dictate where we’re going.” -Criminal Minds TV Show

We all have scars.  Some are physical and some are emotional.  It is impossible to move through life without collecting them.  However, it is important to remember that they are simply a record of past hurts; they do not dictate what our future holds.  When we hold our scars too tightly and start to identify with them, we start to re-create our past.  When we put healing energy into our scars but do not hold them tightly, we open up endless possibilities for our future.

Do I acknowledge my scars and allow them to heal or do I hold tightly to my scars and re-create these same wounds in my life today?  What would a balance of acknowledging my scars and opening up to new possibilities for the future look like?
