“Jealousy is an ugly emotion, but it tells the truth.  We envy those who have what we desire.” –Susan Cain

All emotions have something to give us, even the ones we are uncomfortable with.  If we ignore or deny the uncomfortable emotions, we miss out on their gifts.  When we stuff jealousy, we become inauthentic in our interactions and relationships.  When we wallow in jealousy, it damages our sense of self and our relationships.  However, when we acknowledge jealousy and ask what information it is offering us, it becomes a guide to what we desire in life.  With awareness of what we desire, we can better focus on areas of self care, decide which projects to put energy into, and prioritize our life goals.

When have I ignored or denied jealousy?  When have I wallowed in or been obsessed jealousy?  What have been the consequences?  What gifts await me as I acknowledge jealousy and open myself to the information it offers?
