Thought for the Week

In a bacon and egg breakfast, the chicken is involved; the pig is committed.

Being involved in something is easy.  You can put energy into it but have no worries about the ultimate outcome.  This feels safe but hampers the possibility of success.  In recovery, involvement is a recipe for disaster as it allows for action when it is convenient. Being committed to sobriety and recovery creates more anxiety but allows for ultimate success.

Am I involved in my recovery program or am I committed to it?  If I am “involved,” what might committed look like?  What gifts might await me if I become committed to my recovery?
