“I count him braver who overcomes his desires than him who conquers his enemies; for the hardest victory is the victory over self.” -Aristotle
When we do not struggle with ourself and simply act on our immediate desire or impulse, we are often inappropriate and disrespectful. Finding moderation means “victory over self.” Choosing our actions instead of simply acting or re-acting is an important life skill.
Am I living my life in moderation? What struggles with self are problematic for me? What would “victory over self” look like for me?
