“When you feel like you are going through Hell, keep going!” –Winston Churchill
Life throws us many difficult and painful experiences and situations. This is especially true in early recovery. If we allow ourselves to give up because of fear or a sense of exhaustion, we are staying in the situation that is creating all the difficulty in the first place. A better option is to keep doing the things that allow for change, even if the change does not come immediately.
When I have been faced with difficult or painful situations in the past, what have I done? If I have “kept going,” what changes came my way? If I gave up, how long did “hell” last?
